§ 05 · Voice

§ 05 · How we sound

Plain, mechanical, declarative.

No agency adjectives. No empty intensifiers. Every sentence should be defendable in a meeting with an engineer who reads the code.

Say

We'll ship a working URL this week.

Avoid

We'll start the discovery phase next week.

Why · Bias to the artifact. A working URL is a unit of progress; a discovery phase is a unit of meetings.

Say

Owners get the credentials, the repo, and a runbook.

Avoid

We host it for you so you don't have to worry.

Why · The promise is portability, not dependency. Lock-in is something other shops sell as a feature.

Say

If it breaks, here is how to read the logs.

Avoid

If it breaks, our team will look into it.

Why · Plain mechanism beats reassurance. The owner deserves to know what's running and how to inspect it.
